Emily Devers is a multidisciplinary artist, designer, and arts facilitator based in Naarm (Melbourne) Aus.
As an identified LGBQTI+ and female artist, her practice foregrounds perspectives that are intuitive, embodied, and often overlooked.

Her visual language merges realism with the abstract — combining contemporary painting and collage techniques, with markers of modern muralism. Emily’s artworks draw attention to systems of delineation that shape how we navigate the world.
They purposefully resist simple categorisation, and instead operate as quiet interventions, gestures inviting viewers to reframe their understanding of visual boundaries.

Emily’s tenure as a public artist and brand designer spans almost 2 decades, so she brings a deep understanding of how images play a role in perception and power. Her art practice deliberately moves away from the distillation of symbols and images, instead leaning into the expanse of the abstract picture plane. Often working with the ‘non-image’ — the backgrounds or voids of found imagery — her compositions amplify the thresholds between object and space, visibility and intentional omission.

Emily has exhibited in Queensland, Victoria, and San Francisco, and has participated in residencies across Australia, Mexico, Spain, North Africa, and the U.S.A. Her contribution to public art extends to national and international projects. Locally, she plays an active role in the creative community as an Arts mentor for Councils and has held teaching positions at reputable Australian design colleges and universities. Emily holds a Certificate IV in Visual Art, Bachelor in Fine Art (Visual Art) and is a current Master of Visual Art.
